Good curriculum, slow support

I purchased the Waldorf Grade 3 Curriculum for my son last month. The content itself is very well-structured and easy to follow, making homeschooling much less stressful. I especially liked the Waldorf Storytelling Collection included. However, I had a question about accessing some of the video tutorials and it took about four days to get a response from customer service. While the answer was helpful, the wait was a bit long when I was eager to get started. Overall, good value for the quality of the materials, but support could be quicker.

Decent value for the price

As a first-time homeschooler, I was trying to find a good program that wouldn't break the bank. I opted for the Waldorf Grade 1 Curriculum during their back to school sale. The discount made it feel like a very worthwhile investment. I compared it to a few other options, and Earthschooling offered a lot for the money. The content seems thorough, and it arrived digitally right away. It's definitely helped us get started without spending a fortune, which was my main goal.

Found what I needed

So, I was looking for something to help with our homeschooling, and a friend told me about Earthschooling. I decided to try the Waldorf Watercolor Painting Lessons. It was pretty cool! The instructions were clear, and the videos were a big help. My daughter really enjoyed it, and so did I. It's a nice change of pace from our usual stuff. Accessing the digital files was simple, which was a relief. Felt like a good fit for us.

Does anyone know if Earthschooling offers physical books or is it all just PDFs? My kids really prefer having actual books to work from.

B Ben Vargas 2 months ago
Nah, it's pretty much all digital downloads. PDFs mostly, and videos for the lessons. You'd have to print them yourself if you want physical copies.

I print out a lot of the main lessons, it's a bit of work but worth it for us. They don't send you anything in the mail from what I know.

Hey, thinking about getting the lifetime curriculum. Anyone know if those big discounts, like 25% off, happen often or is it more of a once-a-year thing?

J June K. 2 months ago
They usually have pretty good sales around back-to-school time (August/September) and then again for Black Friday. I think I saw something for January too. So a few times a year, not just one.

Yeah, I got mine during a summer sale, saved a bunch. Just keep an eye on their newsletter, that's where they announce them first.

Just wondering about the refund policy for the digital stuff. Like, if I buy a grade level and realize it's not a good fit after a week, can I get my money back?

C Cody 1 month ago
Pretty sure their digital products are non-refundable once you've accessed them. That's usually how these things work with digital downloads.

Yeah, I remember reading something similar. It's a bit of a bummer, but they do have sample lessons and a lot of info on the site, so you can really check it out before committing.

thinking about earthschooling vs oak meadow for kindergarten. anyone have experience with both or a strong preference? what are the main differences?

R Rachel Marsh 2 months ago
Oak Meadow is great too, but I found Earthschooling to be a bit more deeply rooted in the Waldorf philosophy, especially for the younger grades. Oak Meadow felt a little more 'school at home' sometimes, if that makes sense.

I used Earthschooling for kindergarten and loved it. I looked at Oak Meadow but felt Earthschooling had a more artistic and imaginative feel, which was important to me for Waldorf. Plus, the video tutorials really helped me as a parent.

Is earthschooling like, actually Waldorf? Or is it just kinda Waldorf-y? I've seen some programs that claim to be but then they're really watered down.

A Andre Nguyen 2 months ago
It's definitely Waldorf-inspired. They've been around forever, since '94, and it's a comprehensive program. It's not like a traditional Waldorf school necessarily, but it uses the methodology.

I think it's considered pretty authentic for a homeschooling curriculum. They focus on the holistic approach and everything. It's not like, certified by all the official Waldorf orgs, if that's what you mean, but it's well-regarded by many homeschoolers who want a Waldorf path.
